Rethinking Development. Reframing Practice. Reimagining Giving
JOIN THE ALLIANCE
Who we are
The Philanthropy Reform Alliance (PRA) is an Africa-led initiative working to rethink how development and philanthropy operate in practice. It brings together development practitioners, organisations, and Funders to examine and shift how power, partnerships, and decision-making shape development systems and outcomes.
A central focus of PRA is unlearning—creating space to question and move beyond deeply embedded assumptions, norms, and practices that shape how development work is done. Through this process, PRA supports development practitioners in surfacing and rethinking the everyday dynamics that influence relationships, resource flows, and decision-making in the sector.
At its core, PRA seeks to move beyond conventional models of aid and philanthropy by fostering more equitable, trust-based, and locally grounded approaches to development, enabling sustained shifts in practice, relationships, and systems over time.
